Accelerating success The transition from undergraduate to masters at Hult

In todays highly competitive global job market, the credentials on your resume need to set you apart. With that in mind, a growing number of our Bachelor of Business Administration students are taking advantage of the opportunity to deepen their knowledge, hone their expertise, and expand their international career horizons by transitioning straight to graduate-level studies at Hult. For ambitious students who know from the start that they want to pursue a masters degree, Hult offers an accelerated Combined Degree Program.  This rigorous program puts you on the fast track to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration and a masters degree in as little as three years. Depending on your interests and careers aspirations, masters degree options at Hult include the  Masters in International Business, Masters in International Marketing, Masters in Finance, Masters in Business Analytics, and Masters in Disruptive Innovation. All of these can be studied as part of the Combined Degree Program, or as a separate one-year masters program following the completion of your bachelors degree. We spoke with two students who have taken the leap from bachelors to masters at Hult, allowing them to continue their studies and gain wider global experience across our campus network. Heres what they have to say about going from undergraduate to postgraduate. Sugar Nguyen Vietnamese Bachelor of Business Administration, London Masters in International Business, Boston Class of 2018 Why did you initially choose Hult for your Bachelor of Business Administration degree? I received a few offers from different schools, however, Hult got my attention due to its international factor. I love that Hult offers different, practical programs at campuses around the world. As a future businesswoman, I saw that it would definitely benefit me and help me prepare for the real world. What was that biggest lesson you learned from your undergraduate studies that has helped you as a masters student? The biggest takeaway I have from the undergraduate program is: don’t let people tell you what you can’t do, show them what you can. Why did you decide to do a masters degree? What were the advantages of continuing at Hult? As the job market is getting more competitive, I think having a bachelors degree is not enough. I choose to do a masters right after finishing my undergraduate degree so I can focus 100% on my career in the future. Continuing with Hult was totally ideal for me since I already understood the system here. It didnt take a long time to adapt, but the program is still challenging enough for me to improve myself. Beyond that, Hult offers a great population of international students, which is amazing for networking and international IQ skills. Did the Enrollment and Academic teams make the transition to graduate studies easy for you? How did they help? The transition was super easy with the help of my Enrollment Advisor, Daryna. She made sure I understood every step of the transition and kept checking up on me. Beside Daryna, Kara was my Visa Coordinator. She helped a lot with the visa process, which is one of the biggest concerns for any international student. What’s the biggest difference between your undergraduate and masters studies? A Hult masters degree is definitely more advanced than the Bachelor of Business Administration program. A group project now becomes a professional project, rather than just school work. It requires students to be more professional, hardworking, and committed. I love that I have the chance to be friends and work with people who already have experience in the industry Im interested in. This does not happen often at an undergraduate level. This is the biggest difference, and really helped me develop great industry insights. Why did you choose to do your masters degree at a different Hult campus? What do you feel youve gained from the experience of studying in different cities? I love to challenge myself and explore other cultures. I see Boston as a great place to gain academic advantages and networking. It’s the home to Harvard Business School, MIT, and—most importantly—its very close to New York, where I want to start my career. Moving to a new country and city forced me to get outside of my comfort zone, learn to adapt to a new culture, and challenge myself in a new job market. I have learned the skills to adapt to different cultural environment professionally and socially, which is essential for a business person these days. What are your career plans after finishing your degree? My biggest dream is to work at an international advertising agency, either in New York or London. The Career Development Team has been helping me to build my professional profile and giving me information about securing an international student work visa. What does having the Hult DNA mean to you? Hult DNA to me is being a leader, being open minded, internationally educated, active, willing to face challenges, and kind. As the job market is getting more competitive, I think having a bachelors degree is not enough. I choose to do a masters so I can focus 100% on my career in the future.   Sarveen Chester Singaporean Bachelor of Business Administration, London Masters in International Business, London Class of 2018 Why did you initially choose Hult for your Bachelor of Business Administration degree? I chose Hult because of the opportunities to put business theory into practice. I think this is what many business schools arent able to provide. In business education, having the fundamentals right and the opportunity to put theory into practice and learn lessons from those experiences is valuable. Hult was able to provide that to me in my undergraduate degree and I decided to continue my postgraduate journey with them. I was also given the full Deans Scholarship to take on this next stage, which Im incredibly grateful for. What was that biggest lesson you learned from your undergraduate studies that has helped you as a masters student? Moving from undergraduate to masters studies, the biggest takeaway for me is to never underestimate what the person beside you can do. People surprise you most of the time in pleasant ways. Being able to have a conversation with them and asking yourself what you can learn from the people around you is a gem. Stay open and keep networking—your network is your net worth. Why did you decide to do a masters degree? What were the advantages of continuing at Hult? Doing a masters degree wasnt initially part of my plan. But because I was offered a full scholarship to take this opportunity, I couldnt turn it down. Especially because I was able to continue driving the success of the Hult Founders Lab by taking it into the London postgraduate campus. I could also spend more time in the city that I love, and finally do my global rotations  to the San Francisco and Shanghai campuses. Continuing my journey with Hult meant that the transition and application process was smooth. I didnt have to submit my recommendation letters and transcripts as these were all communicated internally from one registrar to another. What’s the biggest difference between your undergraduate and masters studies? Everyone at the postgraduate level will have done some studies in other areas besides business. So the perspectives that they bring to seminar and group discussions are, more often than not, colored with their prior academic experience, through a lens other than business. The biggest difference would be witnessing and experiencing a change in mindset. I think experiencing a greater emphasis on the importance of a growth mindset is really important at the postgrad level because people—myself included—might already be entrenched in previous experiences when it comes to certain issues. Challenging these deeply held beliefs can be a valuable experience in itself. What are your career plans after finishing your degree? Im looking to enter startup incubation programs and venture capital firms, focusing on FinTech. I also plan to join challenger banks, and the Career Development Team has been helping me throughout the interview process. Its helped a lot—I ended up with an offer! What does having the Hult DNA mean to you? Being global, open, future-oriented, entrepreneurial, unyielding, and empathetic. Never underestimate what the person beside you can do. Stay open and keep networking—your network is your net worth. Interested in pursuing a Hult Masters or Combined Degree? Download a brochure or speak to your Enrollment Advisor. Ways to Translate When Something Happened in Spanish

The usual way of saying in Spanish that something happened some period of time ago is to use the verb hace, which is  a form of hacer, to make, followed by the period of time. Using Hace to Express Time That Has Passed To express a period of time ago, a phrase using hace can come at the beginning of the sentence or can follow the verb. The main verb of the sentence is most commonly used in the preterite, or the simple past tense, although other tenses are possible. The literal translation of hace  can be understood to mean ago, it has been or it was. Spanish Sentence English Sentence Hace cinco aos nuestra escuela fue acreditada. Five years ago, our school was accredited. Es algo que aprend hace poco tiempo. It is something I learned a short time ago. La historia de la ciudad comenz hace mucho tiempo. The story of the city began a long time ago. Hace tres aos yo estaba preparado para salir de casa. Three years ago, I was prepared to leave home. Hace muchos aos un hombre anciano me dijo una historia que su madre le haba dicho. Many years ago, an old man told me a story that his mother had told him. Es la editora del programa, desde su primera emisin hace cuatro aos. She is the editor of the program, since its first broadcast four years ago. Por qu hace un momento me criticabas? Why were you criticizing me a little while ago? Using Hace  as Part of a Prepositional Phrase Similar to English, an expression of time can be used as part of a prepositional phrase immediately following a preposition. Spanish Sentence English Sentence El dlar cae a niveles de hace cinco aos. The dollar is falling to levels of five years ago. Hasta hace un momento estudiaban. They were studying until a moment ago. Using Hace  to Express the Ongoing Passage of Time If the main verb in a sentence using an hace tiempo phrase is in the present tense, it means that the action began the stated time ago and is continuing. Spanish Sentence English Sentence Hace 20 aos que negociamos con Brasil. We have been trading with Brazil for 20 years. Hace dos aos que tenemos este programa. We have had this program for two years. Hace diez aos que no voy a Guatemala. It has been 10 years since I went to Guatemala. Hacer  and the Interruption of Time Hacer can be used to talk about  actions in the past that were interrupted. These expressions are useful for talking about something that had been going on when something else happened. In this case, use hacà a as the verb form of hacer  and use the active verb in the imperfect past tense. Spanish Sentence English Sentence Haca dos semanas que lea el libro cuando lo perd. I had been reading the book for two weeks when I lost it. Haca un ao que estudiaba espaol cuando viaj a Colombia. I had been studying Spanish for one year when I traveled to Colombia. Dorma haca ocho horas cuando son el reloj. I had been sleeping for eight hours when the alarm went off. Jugbamos con el perro desde haca 15 minutos cuando empez a llover. Israel Exile Period Essay Example For Students

Israel Exile Period Essay In 586 B.C.E. the neo-Babylonian armies of Nebuchadnezzar raided and destroyedthe city of Jerusalem, forcing its people to flee. The majority of the Judeanleaders and aristocracy were relocated in Babylon, and lived in relativeisolation from even their captors. The Exile robbed them of their wealth, theirhomes, their nation, and even their king; religion offered the only seed ofidentity for this uprooted people. So it was during this time of Exile that aflourishing of religious texts were written and compiled, in an attempt toexplain the causes of their misfortune, and enable the people to comprehendtheir suffering (Meyers, Haggai xxxviii). In general, the Psalter reflects thetrue emotions of the ancient Israelites, more so than do most Biblical texts, asit is a compilation of their troubles and fears, their hopes, aspirations, and reasons for confidence. (Metzger and Murphy 674 OT) In Psalm 137, anExilic text, a wide range of emotions are shown: longing and mourning for theirlost nat ion (Ps 137:1-3), the sadness and confusion they felt while in theforeign land (Ps 137:4-6), and even the desire for a violent revenge (Ps137:7-9). The same range of emotions can be seen in Second Isaiah, though thiswork was written immediately before the fall of Babylon (October 29,539B.C.E.) and displays more of the Judeans thoughts on their future. It is acompilation of passages of hope, promises of God to fulfill His covenant, andthreats of violence for the unbelievers. The majority of the Exilic andPost-Exilic texts call for a bloody and merciless revenge on their captors, andit would be easy to assign this outlook for all of the Jewish people of thetime. Upon close inspection however, it becomes apparent that not all Jews caredabout a bloody justice, and that some just wanted to go home and be done withit. Both of these views, (both bloody and not), are found in Isaiah 42 and theproximity of the conflicting persuasions highlight their differences. In Isaiah42:3, a pacifistic, reserved justice is called for; a bruised reed he willnot break, and a dimly burning wick he will not quench: he will faithfully bringforth justice. Yet in just a few stanzas later, there is a call for blood. The Lord goes forth like a soldier, like a warrior he stirs up his fury; hecries out, he shouts aloud, he shows himself mighty against his foes. (Isaiah42:13) By comparing these two quotes, it becomes readily apparent that the ideathat all Judeans wanted a violent revenge must be thrown out. While in Exile, the Jewish people held many expectations of their future, not all of whichagreed with one another, nor were fulfilled. Returning to the Promised Land wasthe main focus of Exile, and it evolved into a paradise of sorts, whereeverything would be perfect. There are visions of God blessing the peoplerestored in their land, and their work being more than fruitful throughout theExilic texts. For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on thedry ground; I will pour my spirit upon your descendants, and my blessing on youroffspring. (Isaiah 43:3) Haggai, a text written after Cyrus overthrow ofthe Babylonians, depicts a much different scene than the one envisioned inIsaiah. (Metzg er and Murphy 1217 OT) Therefore the heavens above you havewithheld dew, and the earth has withheld its produce. And I have called for adrought on the land and the hills, on the grain, the new wine, the oil, on whatthe soil produced, on human beings and animals, and on all their labors. (Hag1:10-11) This quote describes a state of affairs far different than what theIsraelite people imagined their future to be. The Jewish people, besidesdepicting a skewed view of their future, also disagreed on how that futureshould be run. While in Exile they were not allowed to have a king for obviousreasons, and due to this power vacuum, the priest was raised in status (Meyersand Meyers, Zechariah 169). Despite the fact that Haggai and Zechariah werecontemporaries, and even cohorts, they did not agree on the place of the priestonce a king had been restored (Metzger and Murphy 1217OT). Throughout the bookof Haggai, the prophet shares all of his visions with both the governor and thehigh priest, exc ept for his very last oracle. In this oracle, he prophesies therise of the Jewish king, and the restoration of power to the people. He onlyaddresses this to the governor, and not to the priest, thereby returning thepriest to the lesser position that they held pre-Exile. On the other hand, thebook of Zechariah alludes to the importance of the priest and the king. Thereshall be a priest by his throne, with peaceful understanding between the two ofthem. (Zech 6:13) The people of Exile held many different ideas about theirfuture and their return to the Promised Land, yet there were common themes inall of the writings. The hope of the people, and their faith that they would berestored to their land, was unwavering and outstanding. During this hardshipthey turned to faith to unite them as a people and to give them hope and it isevident that this at least was a universal truth for the ancientIsraelites. .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d , .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d .postImageUrl , .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d , .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d:hover , .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d:visited , .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d:active { border:0!important; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d:active , .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uff96fd00a6520240f6103d752a461e3d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Burial Practices Of The Ancient Egyptian And Greco-Roman Cultures EssayBibliographyMetzger, Bruce M. and Roland E.
